Ohhhh....The Colors

Yesterday was a blast... at THE COLOR RUN

Literally a blast of color!  The girls and I woke up early to participate in The Color Run that was held in the downtown area of Las Vegas. The Color Run is a 5k that is totally about having a fun experience and helping to raise funds for the local 4 Square Food Bank.  Seriously, this run was just plain fun!!!

There were four of us that participated: Me, Nicole, Breanne and Breanne's adorable boyfriend Tyler (who stepped in at the last minute to take Josh's place).  Mom was with us too, but she is our photographer, driver, cheerleader and avid supporter when it comes to things like this!!

Here we are, just arrived and ready to see what we're in for!
We drove downtown and parked.  When we go to the area of where the run was to begin all you could see was a see of white.  To participate, every person was required to wear an all white t-shirt...hence to see the colors once you were blasted with it!

Nicole before the run!

This is the sea of white in front of us, there was more behind us.  We were in the second group to leave the start line...

Waiting, Waiting, Waiting

Finally here we go!  Nicole first 5k

Action picture of B's & Tyler...hahah

One kilo...YELLOW!

Kilo Two...GREEN!

Close up after GREEN

PURPLE was INSANE!!!  Nicole got her wish!

This was just too funny, we had to stop to get a picture

Then PINK...this was after the finish line...

Our lil group after the finish line all COLORED!!!

Anyway, the run was a TOTAL blast!  At every kilometer a new color was literally thrown at us.  First yellow, green, purple then finally pink.  What once was clean was now covered from head to toe is a mixture of color!  After crossing the finish line, participants were able to gather together in a festival of color release.  We had little packets of color that we threw into the air at the same time which created a cloud of colors and also causing the thrown colors to land on every person in the crowd, hence getting even more covered with additional color.

Color fest!!

So much fun...

Remember how clean Colie looked at the beginning....yeah not so much anymore!!! LOVE IT!

BRAVEHEART in all her pink glory

Tyler...what a good sport.  He was so much fun to have with us!

AND FINALLY....

Yup that's ME!!

SERIOUSLY I HAVE TO SAY, THIS WAS ONE OF THE FUNNEST TIMES I HAVE HAD THAT INVOLVED RUNNING!

Just hope for many more to come with even more people I love...

It Must Be...

Ever have those moments when you want to spend time with your family but get stuck spending time with them watching some kind of mind numbing show on television?

Yeah me too!

Pounds VS. Inches

Oh yeah, this is just about to drive me crazy!  For months now I have been seriously focusing on losing weigh...well I can say since the beginning of January INCHES is the winner so far.  When I stand on the scale every week, I haven't seen much change at all...(Which is VERY frustrating because in my mind numbers should be the winner, right?)  Nope, inches is making the progress this month!  I have gone down about 2 inches all over.  Which is really good!

But in the overall skeem of things, when I stand on the scale, I want to see an immediate change.  I get upset because that result is harder to see.  The only way to tell inches is going down is with the tape measure, and who wants to bust out the tape measure all the time?  Not this girl!  Having clothes fit a little differently helps too, but I get impatient because I'm tired of wearing the same clothes all the time.

I suppose I need to continue to be patient, since changes are occuring.  But being the girl I am, the number on the scale matters! I am aware of the world and the size that is becoming a norm.  That seriously scares me to death!  I want to be healthy and aware consciously of myself, but knowing who I am is more important than anyting. I just need to hang in there and keep moving forward and keep doing my best to meet my goal. And I also have to keep reminding myself that the number on the scale doesn't make me any different a person than who I already am, but healthy is an utmost importance and should be to everyone...

I agree with this statement to a point...
The number should be important if you are unhealthy and need to make a change

Official announcement...

I WISH!!!

Strength...

Last night before I went to bed, I decided to look at Facebook really quick. As I was reading through posts and comments I came acros a long time friends post. What she wrote broke my heart. Her husband passed away a couple years ago and she just seems to be doing all she can just to keep going forward without him. I don't know  what it's like to have a spouse that has died, butt I do know what its like to live without one for an extended period of time. As many of my family and friends know Josh wasn't around or involved with our family for seven years. (Maybe one day I will blog about it, but some already know why and I'm not quite ready to go back there just yet :))

Those seven years I spent many days and nights asking the common why, how and what questions. I asked these questions because I didn't think I had the strength to live life without him. On a regular basis I cried because I felt weak. I felt I couldn't live my life and be a strong single parent who could raise my children alone. I wasn't sure what I was going to do...

Looking back now I don't know how I made it from one day to the next. I suppose it was the silent strength I held within myself. Granted I am very stubborn, but knowing I had to continue on was all I could do just to keep going. I learned that I had strength even when I didn't think I did. I learned to smile even when I felt like a combustion chamber that was ready to burst. I learned to have strength when I knew people were judging me because of my situation. I knew people were talking, but my silent strength kept me going. I needed strength for my children because they needed to be strong as well. I also used all my strength in me to know that every step, every hour and every day was another day closer to an end...

It was this strength that gave me courage to say silent prayers to help me to get through this moment...

Life is far from easy, but I know for a fact that everyone has a silent strength to keep pushing them forward, even when life is hard. I wish for my friend to find this strength...  There is so much to really look forward to in life, heck the past is what creates who we are now and in the future.  Our past and present is our legacy.  My legacy will teach the future that my trials and challenges helped me to become who I am today.(Hopefully it will teach something as well)  Everyone needs to endure in life and find the strength to keep moving forward even when life is hard and we're ready to give up...

Endure to the end!!!

This is what it looks like when you wake up in the morning after a long stressful week....
Yeah so what if I look like crap, it gave Josh & I a good laugh. You know its funny when you go back to bed and you catch yourself laughing in your sleep about it too!!

Keeping in Check

It's officially February today, so the question is...

Did I break my resolutions yet?

Well a quick review of my resolutions...

Read 12 books
Make 15 knitted hats & donate
Read & finish the Old Testament
Blog 2 times a week
Graduate college!
Run a Marathon
2-5K
1-10K
Exercise 3 times a week
Pay off 3 bills
Reach my goal weight finally!
Finish 2 tubes of lip balm-Stop picking my lips
Temple once a month

Well I'm happy to say that I am still plugging away...

  • I now have 10 1/2 books left to read
  • 14 1/2 knitted hats left (I forgot how to finish the hat)- Needless to say its still in the works, but it will be done!
  • Still reading the Old Testament. I'm now officially into it 128 pages!
  • Blogging away! Just trying to decide different things to write about is the hard part....I find it weird that my Muffin Top posting has officially as of today been the most read of my blogs...So I guess I should post more about my muffin!!! NOT
  • Graduate college! Well I'm one more month closer, but I'm SO  ready for it to be over!
  • Run a marathon...Not quite ready yet, but I did start running again after not putting my running shoes on for a few months.  Ran over 2 miles on the first day back...Not too bad
  • 2-5K...Officially signed up for The Color Run on Feb 25...VERY EXCITED!
  • 1-10K...Not yet, but will do for sure
  • Exercise 3 times a week...I have to admit, this was very hard for me to get started again.  I finally started a couple weeks ago exercising on and off, but last week I TOTALLY kicked it into gear.  So far I am doing much better!  And believe it or not, I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!!!
  • Pay off 3 bills...Well again this is a work in progress, but it will happen
  • Reach my goal weight finally.  Again a work in progress.  Lost a pound and a half :/  Just have to keep working at it.  I know its a slow process.  It already has been, but sometimes I feel like giving up!!!
  • Finish 2 tube of lip balm and stop picking my lips...This is a horrible habit I have had for years...When I am stressed I pick at my lips, so I have kept a tube of lip balm near me at all times.  If I find myself picking at my lips I will grab the lip balm and put it on.  I am doing pretty good at it so far.  When I have picked my lips, I realize I am doing it and grab for the lip balm...Again, a work in progress!
  • Temple once a month...Got there last night!  Last day of the month, but made it...
So as of today... and checking my progress one month into the new year, I think I am doing pretty good.  Some of these resolutions/goals have been harder than what I thought, but I seriously did challenge myself with some of these.

Stay tuned...
